On October 31, Blessing Chukwu will represent the state of Nayarit in the 2020 Miss Mexico pageant, becoming the first Afro-Mexican woman to participate in the beauty pageant.

Blessing was born in Nigeria, where her father is from, and her mother is Mexican. Blessing says that in addition to being Mexican by blood, she is Mexican by decision.
